About
Rowena has been a keen writer since childhood and studied the craft at RMIT before entering The Australian/Vogel Literary Award for young authors.
More recently, she developed Bellwater Proof while undertaking novel writing and editing courses at the Faber Academy (Sydney). The novel is the first instalment in a series featuring a female solicitor-sleuth.
Rowena also writes short stories on mysterious themes, and honed her skills through online courses in mystery writing with Gotham Writers’ Workshop (New York).
She is a member of Sisters in Crime (Australia) and was published in the anthology, Scarlet Stiletto: The Second Cut (2011).
Rowena’s crime writing draws upon more than 22 years of experience working in the legal system, including as a criminal lawyer and researcher. She holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Anthropology, and completed the College of Law program to qualify for admission to practice in 1998.
As relief from poring over legal text and plotting fictional crimes, Rowena dabbles in art, including gouache designs, drawing and printmaking. She lives in Sydney and finds artistic inspiration in its stunning coastal and bush landscapes.
